Grant Recipient
Windgate-Lamar Fellowship
2018
Seow proposed to conduct field research of wood and furniture. They planned to conduct interviews and enroll in a workshop with Kagen Sound at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. After, they would travel to Tokyo and Hakone. The remaining funds would be used to invest in a shared studio space and a 3D printer.
The Windgate Fellowship will provide an opportunity for me to study with renowned puzzle maker Kagen Sound at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado. I also plan to travel to Tokyo and Hakone, Japan, where I’ll explore how culture intersects with narrative, puzzles, and craft. After my trip, I will use award funds to invest in a shared studio space and a 3D printer. These will allow me to make work in response to my journey by providing the equipment I need to expand my craft.
