Since 1996, the Center for Craft has advanced the field of craft by investing in artists, expanding craft scholarship, and supporting material innovation. We have awarded $11 million and counting to makers, researchers, and organizations nationwide.
Rooted in downtown Asheville, our gallery and public programs showcase craft for all. As we prepare to open the nation’s foremost Community Library and Archives dedicated to American craft in 2028, we are deepening our thinking about the intersections of preservation and innovation, local and national, past and future.
