The WNC Center for Craft Artists Residency will provide two Western North Carolina (WNC) based artists with studio space in downtown Asheville, a Cowork pass in the Center for Craft’s National Craft Innovation Hub, and a $10,000 honorarium. Recognizing the vital role artists play in the building sustaining the interconnection, and overall well-being of communities - this residency is designed to provide a regenerative experience that allows artists of WNC to reinvest in their practices, grow their skills, and expand their work.
Two selected artists will work alongside two Virginia A. Groot Material Exploration Residents in a cohort of four artists. Each resident will be given their own studio space and ample time to work independently as well as have the opportunity to build relationships with other residents and participate in engagement opportunities such as studio visit with regional curators, museums, and/or collectors and explore regional craft schools (eg. Penland School of Craft, Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, and John C. Campbell Folk School).
