Each resident artist will receive a $10,000 honorarium, Center for Craft flex-desk coworking membership, join the WNC Craft Futures Cohort, and be featured in a group exhibit in the Center’s Bresler Family Gallery. Four on-site residents will receive approximately 200 sq ft of free studio space in the Center's Ideation Lab. Artists who lost their studio space during Helene will be given priority for the four free, on-site studio spaces.

Invest in the critical community function of craft; support craft artists as they enrich the health, well-being, and resilience of the communities where they live and work
Develop and strengthen networks of regional craft artists through peer-to-peer learning and mutual aid
In 2025, the Virginia A. Groot Residency at the Center for Craft will support craft artists in Western North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene. This 6-month program provides seven artists with $10,000 honoraria, Center for Craft flex-desk coworking membership, join the WNC Craft Futures Cohort, and be featured in a group exhibit in the Center’s Bresler Family Gallery.
Four artists will receive approximately 200 sq ft of free studio space in the Center's Ideation Lab. Three previous recipients of the Virgina A. Groot Foundation will be invited to participate in the cohort and complete the residency at their home studios.
