3D-Printed Ceramic Artifact

This 3D ceramic artifact is made of clay and white glaze. It was created by Ph.D. student Samuelle Bourgault using CoilCAM, a domain-specific CAM programming system that supports the integrated generation of parametric forms and surface textures through mathematically defined toolpath operations.

Supplier Description

Sam Bourgault is a Ph.D. Candidate in Media Arts and Technology at the University of California Santa Barbara. Bourgault works with Professor Jennifer Jacobs in the Expressive Computation Lab. Bourgault develops action-oriented systems for digital fabrication informed by craft workflows through collaboration with domain experts and artifact production. CoilCAM is the result of a collaborative research project between computer scientists and expert ceramicists taking place at the Expressive Computation Lab at UC Santa Barbara.
