Craftspeople have an integral relationship with materials, relying on them to research, experiment, create objects, and lead innovation.
This September, the Center for Craft is pleased to introduce the Materials Collection, a new, interactive installation of over 100 common and innovative materials used in craft. Join us virtually on Tuesday, September 17 and October 1, for a new program series exploring how materials contribute to our understanding of craft.
This series kicks off on Tuesday, September 17, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. ET with Materials Talk—Ceramics: Dis/Location. Tune in for a discussion with artists and researchers of Ceramic Materials Atlas Del Harrow and Rose Schreiber, Takuro Shibata, Director of STARworks Ceramics, and curator Oscar Salguero about how clay connects us to place and how the source impacts its use.
Materials Talk is a free virtual program.
