Born in Tucson, AZ, Andrew Hayes is an accomplished artist known for his unique blend of craftsmanship and innovation. He studied sculpture at Northern Arizona University before transitioning to metal fabrication, where his hands-on experience with welding built a strong foundation for his artistic voice.
A pivotal moment in his journey was participating in the Core Fellowship at Penland School of Craft, where he explored diverse materials and techniques, especially book-making. In 2014, he returned to Penland as an artist in residence, refining his practice and merging metalwork with book forms.
In 2018, Andrew opened his studio in Asheville, NC, creating nationally recognized works exhibited in solo shows at Seager Gray Gallery and the Metals Museum. His pieces are included in notable collections, such as the Yale Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Art, Houston.
