Bio of the Artist

Organization Background

Born in Los Angeles, c marquez lives and works just outside of Taos, New Mexico. They earned a BFA from The University of Kansas and an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

Select work experiences include: print/letterpress/books/papermaking studio coordinator assistant with Penland School of Crafts; artist-in-residence, print studio coordinator and art educator with The Provincetown Art Association and Museum; and print assistant to fellow with the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. marquez previously worked as a graphic designer, package designer, and illustrator. marquez is occasional adjunct faculty with the University of New Mexico, Taos.

Select art honors include: artist-in-residence: Venice Printmaking Studio;

visiting artist:"Beyond our Natural Borders" in Little Rock, AK; inclusion in "The Carved Line" exhibition and book: Albuquerque Museum; named one of the "12 Artists to Know Now in New Mexico": Southwest Contemporary Magazine and inclusion in exhibition showcase of named artists.

artist-in-residence: Dune Shack artist residency at Cape Cod National Seashore; awarded The Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant for sculptors.
